Dog stolen from Bonita Springs yard

A Bonita Springs man reported that his Australian Shepherd, named Mougli, was stolen Saturday from his yard.

Mougli's owner, 56-year-old Daniel Stingl, told Lee deputies he left his home, on the 27800 block of Old Seabord Road, at 5:30 p.m. Stingl says he left Mougli chained to a dog run on the side of his residence, and when he returned around 9:15 p.m. his dog was gone. The dog run was not broken and neither was the clasp where the leash had been attached.

Mougli is described as 40 to 50 pounds, white, black, and brown in color, with blue eyes. He had a collar on with a tag listing his name, owner's name, address, and phone number. Stingl told deputies that Mougli is microchipped and that he paid approximately $1,000 for the dog.

A neighbor told deputies she saw the dog on the leash when she returned home around 7:30 p.m. Reports say an unidentified woman knocked at her door a short time later and asked if she knew who owned the dog. The neighbor says when she responded' "not personally," the woman remarked that she did not like the fact that the dog was unattended and she walked away.
