ESTERO — Children of all ages were at Germain Arena Saturday evening to witness and also participate in the Greatest Show on Earth.
All the fun began as the doors opened at 6 p.m. sharp and the crowd rushed over to the arena floor for the rockin’ Pre-show party. Party goers were able to learn dance moves from clown D.J. Dean as they brushed up on their balancing and juggling skills. Other activities included hula hoop lessons, photo opportunities with circus stars and last but not least, backstage access to interact with the most exotic animal menagerie on this earth.
Stephanie Woodward stated “I haven’t been to a circus in thirty years, this is so wonderful, it makes me feel like a little girl again”
The opening event was like the grand finale of a fireworks display. Pyrotechnics gave the audience a light show while the performers poured out onto the arena floor to dazzle the thousands of spectators with their wild and daring feats of wonders.
Throughout the evening, spectators were at the edge of their seats while performers such as Dimitri the Strong Man allowed thirteen performers to stand on his chest while lying on thousands of pieces of broken glass.
Able to walk upside down, fifty feet above the ground, no net? Francleib Rodrigues “Flabson” can! Using only loops to support his feet, Flabson is able to walk inverted high above the arena floor with no harness or net.
Jessica Inez, 8, was wondering “How come the man walking in the air upside down doesn’t get dizzy? I do just watching him”.
The most amazing international acts were assembled for the Barnum Bash such as Motorcycle Mania, Wheel of Steel, Hand Balancers just to name a few.
