A Golden Gate Estates man faces drug charges after deputies say he was conducting an indoor grow house containing 74 marijuana plants.

Juan Castro-Gonzalez, 46, of the 200 block of 19th Street Southwest, was arrested Wednesday by Collier County sheriff's deputies at home.

According to an arrest report, sheriff's detectives received a tip about a possible indoor grow house at Castro-Gonzalez's residence.

Deputies said when they arrived at the residence, they asked for Castro-Gonzalez's consent to search the residence and he agreed.

While conducting a search, deputies found a door to a small utility room that had been converted into a marijuana grow operation, according to reports.

Deputies said they then recovered 74 marijuana plants and equipment used for growing marijuana.

A Smith and Wesson 9 mm handgun and a second room being prepared to house a larger indoor marijuana grow operation also was found in the home, according to reports.

Deputies reported a total weight of 4.7 pounds of marijuana, with a total street value of $222,000. The drug equipment was estimated at a total worth of $2,000.

Castro-Gonzalez faces felony charges of cultivating marijuana, possessing a place for manufacturing a controlled substance and possessing narcotic paraphernalia.
