A limo driver told deputies he is out $430 for a round-trip fare from Bonita Springs to Everglades City.
According to a Lee County incident report, a driver from Elite Limousine Services of southwest Florida called deputies Sunday to a parking lot at the Pelican Landing plaza, 24600 U.S. 41 South, Bonita Springs.
The driver told deputies he arrived in this same parking lot to pick up a fare around 4 p.m. The customer got into the limo with his wife and they drove to pick up his parents at Horizon Condos before heading to dinner at Rod & Gun Club in Everglades City. After the group finished dinner he drove the parents back to the condo, and the couple back to their vehicle in the plaza parking lot, reports said.
The driver says he informed the man he owed $431.50 for 5 1/2 hours of service, and asked for a credit card to make an imprint on the receipt. The customer told him to put the charge on the credit card he used when he called the company to make the reservation.
According to reports, the man refused to give the driver a card and told his wife to retrieve their brown BMW station wagon. After he entered the vehicle, the couple reversed out of the parking space so the driver was not able to view the license plate. They backed through an intersection and put the car in drive.
Reports say the driver called the limo company who informed him the credit card number had been given was invalid.
