A 14-year-old Immokalee boy was hospitalized in serious condition Tuesday after authorities say he jumped aboard a moving sport utility vehicle, jumped off and hit his head on the road.
Around 1:30 p.m. Judes Exantus, 27, was driving a 1998 Toyota 4Runner south on Vireos Way near the intersection of Anhinga Circle at a slow rate of speed, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. As he passed, Stevenson Joseph, 14, jumped onto the driver’s side running board, reports said.
Exantus slowed down to let Joseph off, but Joseph jumped before the vehicle came to a complete stop. When he jumped, Joseph fell and hit his head on the asphalt, the FHP said.
Joseph was transported to Lee Memorial Hospital.
