Letter: Just like before

Just like before

The Western world is exactly in the same situation that it was in 1939, when Germany was under Nazi dictatorship. We are facing Iran with its hostile government, threatening to eliminate Israel among other threats, and an extremely advanced nuclear program. Everybody knows (I hope!) that Iran is behind a lot of terrorist organizations.

I remember (I was 12 years old in 1940) the Nazis arresting not only Jews, but also all opponents, priests and women, and forcefully enrolling their young boys in a Nazi organization: Hitler Youth. Iran has the same rules for its citizens.

Pope Benedict XVI was 17 years old when the Nazis sent him to Hitler Youth but he seized an opportunity for escaping to Switzerland.

Recently Iran's Revolutionary Court sentenced to death a young American former Marine, born in the USA to Iranian parents. Innocently, he went to visit a grandmother but had an Iranian passport (I wonder why) and was arrested and condemned to death under the pretense he was a spy for the CIA.

Our administration doesn't believe what happens in Iran about nuclear sites and advanced research for building nuclear bombs. Iran has a strong army and marines well-equipped with missiles able to reach not only Israel but actually the United States.

If Iran threatens to close the Strait of Hormuz, it is because they are able to fight who will dare to oppose them.

I am afraid of the extremism that has no limits like Nazism and communism.

With these people, peaceful negotiations will not work!
