Last chance for absentee ballots

Wednesday is that last day to request an absentee ballot be sent through the mail for the upcoming Jan. 31 Presidential Preference Primary election. It is important to note that absentee ballots are not forwarded and will be mailed to the address provided to the Supervisor of Elections Office.

After Jan. 25, voters requesting an absentee ballot will be required to pick up the ballot at the Supervisor of Elections Office.Requests made by 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday will be available for pickup after 8 a.m. the following day. Absentee ballot pickup requests made Friday will be available for pickup after 8 a.m. on the following Monday.

Once the absentee ballot is completed, the ballot must be returned to the Supervisor of Elections Office in the official ballot envelope provided by 7 p.m. on Jan. 31 - Election Day. The ballot envelope must be signed by the voter. If returning an absentee ballot by mail, be aware that on Jan. 22, the United States Postal Service will increase the cost of mailing a one-ounce piece of mail from $0.44 to $0.45.

Any registered voter is permitted to request and vote an absentee ballot. Requests may be made online at or by calling the Supervisor of Elections Office at (239) 252-8450.
