A Golden Gate Estates woman is facing numerous drug charges after deputies say she was caught shoplifting from a local Wal-Mart.

Kira Pickett, 24, of the 300 block of Fourth Street Northeast, was arrested Wednesday by Collier deputies at Wal-Mart located at the 9800 block of Collier Boulevard.

According to an arrest report, Wal-Mart's loss prevention notified deputies of a woman, identified as Pickett, inside the store changing prices on items and placing items into her handbag.

A Wal-Mart security officer told deputies that he witnessed Pickett change the price tag on a backpack and then proceeded to the infants department where she took various toys and supplies off the shelf and placed them into her purse. Her final stop was the health and beauty department where she took makeup and nail polish from off the shelf and placed them into her bag, according to reports.

Wal-Mart security told deputies that Pickett then attempted to exit the store through the garden center without paying for any of the items. She was then escorted to the security office where she refused to open her handbag, according to reports.

Deputies said when they arrived on scene, Pickett was placed under arrest for petit theft and her bags were then searched.

Not only were the stolen items found in Pickett's possession but several pills as well, according to reports.

Deputies said they discovered large straws used to snort and ground up pills, a Midol bottle with 24 halves of large white pills and a small green bottle with 22 small pills.

The pills were identified by poison control as oxycodone, Xanax, and hydromorphone, according to reports.

Pickett faces three felony charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession of paraphernalia and petit theft.
