GOODLAND — Every Sunday, Goodland puts its attitude on display at Stan’s Idle Hour Restaurant. But one weekend a year, they go all out, and hold the Mullet Festival.
The 28th annual festival was this weekend, and bikes, beers, and bikini tops once again held sway. The big blowout is Sunday, when the Buzzard Lope Queen is crowned, but Saturday afternoon, the younger girls got their chance, with the Buzzard Princess contest.
“Everybody’s doing the Buzzard Lope,” went the song, as the young ladies flapped their wings and pranced. Kylie Cook of Estero took top honors and was named Buzzard Princess, winning a bicycle, and $50 in cash, handed to her by Stan Gober, the 85-year-old patriarch of Stan’s, for a spirited performance – although not spirited in the sense that some of the Queen contestants can be expected to turn in on Sunday.

How much was Stan charging for beer this year?

There's always one stupid comment I can always count on. Who cares what he charged for beer this year? Stan runs a business which is operating to MAKE MONEY. Should he give it away? If you don't like the price of it, don't drink it.
Congratulations Stan on another great event which I'm sure the snow-birds and locals alike look forward to every year.

Hey Messiah chill out!
First in life no questions are stupid. They are just questions! I have not taken sides and don't care what Stan charges! I just asked a simple question, nothing more nothing less.
As far as the Locals enjoying the event, Some (Not all) of them have told me they now go to the Old Marco Lodge! I have been told they no longer go to Stan's after he raised his prices from $3.00 to 4.00 dollars for a beer.
Messiah, I have no problem paying $4.00 for a beer. And yes your right and I agree with you! Stan has a right to run his business and charge what he feels is fair.
I was just wondering if he raised the price to $5.00 for the mullet fest?
Don't kill me because I asked a simple question. Just RELAX & have a beer!

You raised a stupid question. That's all.
Stan is great and Rosi is the best waitress ever served in Godland. So simple is that.

>>> Godland?
>>> Does that make Goober & the greasy food like Jesus with loaves & fishes?
>>> How much did Jesus charge for the beer?

Who gives a s*** how much the beer costs.
Good food, free beer (bc I sat on the boat and drank mine at the dock) and a hell of a crowd. Mullet Festival never fails to entertain! Might want to get a band thats a little more in sync next year though. It was good to see Queen Mary's cottage thighs again too! Gotta love her!
