POMPANO BEACH — Authorities say a 6-year-old boy was critically injured when the scooter he was riding was struck by a car that was involved in a crash with another vehicle in Pompano Beach.
The Broward Sheriff's Office says five other people involved in the Sunday afternoon crash received minor injuries.
According to a sheriff's office report, a car driven by 28-year-old Marcus Permenter ran a stop sign and hit a car driven by 51-year-old Chiledric Jacques. Permenter's vehicle then hit a fence, the child riding the scooter, a minivan and a tree before coming to rest after hitting a pickup truck.
Both drivers and the three passengers in Jacques' car were treated for a variety of injuries.
Traffic homicide investigators are interviewing witnesses as the investigation continues.
