Collier County Court Judge Vince Murphy would like to keep his job.

Murphy filed paperwork Monday to stand for re-election to Seat 1 of the Collier court, the Collier County Supervisor of Elections Office confirmed.

Murphy first won election to the Collier County bench in November 2000, in an election to fill a judgeship left vacant by Judge Brenda Wilson.

According to his page on the 20th Judicial Circuit website, Murphy said he would like to be thought of as "accessible and fair." He also said he would "constantly solicit suggestions from everyone as to how we can do things better."

After graduating the University of Florida Law School with honors, Murphy began practicing law in 1977 with a focus on real property and probate until his election to the bench. He also represented the Collier County Tax Collector for more than 16 years.

Murphy and his wife, Linda, have five children and four grandchildren.
