'God bless America'
Thank you, America, for my 50 years of freedom.
Jan. 21 marked the 50th anniversary of my arrival in the United States of America.
My father and my husband, both deceased now, escaped from communist Cuba in a small boat six months before me.
They felt in love with Naples; so did I.
We settled here in February 1962 and started our family.
Now I have three children, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
They all are the joys of my life.
Like everybody else I had have ups and downs, but you can overcome the downs when you live in the best country of the world — the United States of America.
I want to take this opportunity to first thank Jesus, my Lord; the good people I found in my path; the U.S. military for our freedom; and especially the Coast Guard for bringing my entire family to safety.
