I wonder indeed, that, in spite, of the hundreds of letters of opposition from the people who pay taxes to the city of Marco Island, that all of you are able to look at yourselves in your respective mirrors in the morning!
You, who are not in the least affected by the downside of these carriages on Marco Island because your homes are not in the “depreciated” area, have single-handedly downgraded the value of the our properties (in the staging areas of these horses) and reduced our quality of life in our domiciles.
You should en mass resign as you have not in the slightest upheld your oaths of office; the people of Marco Island and their interests are not utmost in your minds or hearts. Dare I ask who it is that you do serve!?

The answer to your question would be John Arceri and Monte Lazarus. Who else would prop up three councilmen who are personally bankrupt yet vote to spent YOUR money?
It is your own fault, however. You keep electing these "syndicate members". They are smart enough to orchestrate bullet balloting to the ignorant who vote single issues. They know that they can promise a few dollars monthly water/sewer bill savings to those who ignore the $400,000,000 of debt that they are now responsible for....more when they push through totally unnecessary "upgrades" to Mackle Park and eventually the CRA....and more yet as they expand Fire and Police and greater pensions.
You need only look to Stockton, CA for the eventual result of all of this spending, but Marco citizens are far too disinterested in their local politics to notice.
Good luck,
John Putnam

I just love people who promote fear of the unknown.
What you should be concern with is the hundreds of rats that currently live near your condo.
Between the 1,000's of mosquitoes and the hundreds of rats, which should be the major concern of all Marco Island residents.
The question should be what is the city doing about that? Rats and mosquitoes carry disease, horses do not!

Mr Putnam you are dead on sir. I bought into the syndicate lies last election when they came to my condonassoc. And promised that util rates may actually go down if we vote in waldack, gibson, recite and trotter. Lies lies lies. I am now a huge opponent of this syndicate crowd for they ate just out to tax and spend to protect their own special interests

What is your background. Did you never go to school. How can you believe this:

I can not believe how easy it is to manipulate Americans. The next election will be very interesting. Without an subject of 100% polarization like STRP it will be really hard for Waldi and Gibbon to win. And Wald-is campaign manager is Eddi Issler. Political the village idiot. What a run!
OK 2themoon - this time you take care of your vote. Ask me. I tell you whom you have to vote.
Independent people with brain and background.
And responsibility for Marco Island.

I mean from a pirate to SantaKlaus ... that is interesting. Did you ever saw a school inside?
However - for the next election - take a consult-er. Or ask me. I give you the right advise you need. Maybe John Putnam you like. But not godfather Aceri anymore. That was your level but wrong.

Think the topic was horsedrawn carriages ... anyone know if under the City charter or FL law, if council members can be recalled?
KlausStoertebeker writes:
The last try on Marco Island organized and managed by Roger Hall ended in a disaster. A political recall is not possible in America. And - I like that. It stabilized the system. The only way is, do not vote for lousy city councilor twice.

This Letter to the Editor is GREAT !!! It demonstrates the essence of a Democracy and what makes voting so essential in ALL elections, whether Local, State or Federal.
The "hundreds of letters of opposition" referred to above are never to be taken lightly, but we must all respect our elected officials for wanting to represent and vote for the MAJORITY of citizens (registered Marco Island voters) that voted them into office.
If it is not obvious to the 2,000 of you that continuously complain and who voted for the candidates that lost in the last election, the majority of voters wanted the STRP completed, want new raods, want new parks, want a City that reflects the future, NOT THE PAST.
Again, until the majority demographics of Marco Island voters changes, we can pnly hope that the majority vision for our future does not change.
Again, everone's opinion is important, some just more than others.

Let's also not forget how swiftly and brilliantly the City is acting on swale parking.
The moment some kid or bicyclist gets whacked in the areas where swale parking is being permitted, I'll testify for any plaintiff that I've called the police, joined in the public concern, and that Marco officially has DONE NOTHING!!!!

I believe you will find an Obama sticker on Monte's car which explains everything.

I am sooooooooooooo excited. The more that the FEW of you continue to "blame" a few individuals for our great Island's future and Council, the less you will realize that you share a minority opinion about the direction that the MAJORITY of Islanders want to see.
A 66% to 33% election can hardly be attributed to a few individuals or even a TOPIC (STRP). The more new citizens we acquire as residents, the more the pendulum swings towards the 66% and higher number.
Yes, we are no longer what we used to be. Good, bad, or indifferent, you 10-20 bloggers will not make a difference, as I will not make a difference. The voters, as a group, decide. And they do not seem to agree with you.
This forum is meant as a place for an exchange of ideas and philosophies. I guess out of frustration, there are some of you that want to make statements that are personal, rather than on topic. That does nothing to help your "cause" or opinion, and just goes to show how weak your argument or position really is.
Try to put it all into perspective. The personal stuff does not get to me, I cannot speak for anyone else. It actually energizes me and keeps me going, as I realize just how weak your position is ( as you have nothing else to support your points) for our future.

I guess the author means great President Barack Obama. AND HE IS RIGHT! GREAT PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA GOT A MAJOR VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am agree with your statement. In November Americans will vote for what is good for America, period, because as someone once said: “The times, they are a changing, and it ain’t looking good”.

Klaus,
You prove a very important point about people who read only what they believe, regardless if it is the point of the article, or not.
From your point of view, the Author said: “all I read of your recommendation article is very simple and very true: "It is a major victory for Mr. Obama." “I guess the author means great President Barack Obama. AND HE IS RIGHT! GREAT PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA GOT A MAJOR VICTORY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
When in reality, the Authors point is clearly stated in the Headline: “Our revolutionary Supreme Court and the rise of Socialist America”
Having Ancestors who fought in the Revolutionary War, and every war since, I believe in Freedom, whereas you, a European, embrace Socialism.
This election will decide who wins and losses, and I can guarantee you, if Obama wins, even you will not like his version of Socialism.
KlausStoertebeker writes:
My dear friend 26YOM,
socialism and freedom is no contrast at all. For example: One of the political most socialism nations world wide was Sweden. But the Swedish people were never under dictatorship. They were free. In the moment we have a lot of European nations under socialism leadership. The largest nation is brand new France. But France has freedom.
Great President Barack Obama by the way is light years away from even closed of a kind of socialism France or Sweden had in the past. Or Greece. Or Spain. Or Denmark. Or Germany.
And great President Barack Obama by the way has no idea what socialism means. He has social responsibility for approximately 50 to 8o million American citizens to secure in this citizens in a case of unhealthy or sick situations. That's all my friend. Nothing else.
What will you say if great President Barack Obama or wan-a-be President Romney have to make a decision that every American has to pay an additional tax by 10% on top of their income tax or on all sales taxes as a solidarity surcharge on income and sales tax to repay the national debts? In Germany Germans pay since 1991 this kind of tax for the unification of West and East Germany.
Be not so self-centered. Solidarity has nothing to do with socialism. I am pretty sure that great President Barack Obama will do the right policy for Americans the next 4 years.
26yearsonmarco writes:
Klaus,
I’m sure you will agree there are many definitions and interpretations of freedom based on what part of the World people live or come from.
My opinion of Freedom as an American is in line with this article:
http://onlinephilosophyclub.com/defin...
And my concerns for American Freedom as defined in the Second Amendment are based on this article:
http://www.examiner.com/article/20-re...
You are Free to disagree only because you are in America.
KlausStoertebeker writes:
In 2008 and 2010, the Supreme Court issued two Second Amendment decisions. In District of Columbia v. Heller, 554 U.S. 570 (2008), the "Court ruled that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm, unconnected to service in a militia and to use that arm for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home."
OK! If that is your understanding of FREEDOM, than we are not so close together.
"And my concerns for American Freedom as defined in the Second Amendment...
But you must be 100% agree that the Second Amendment has nothing to do with socialism.
26yearsonmarco writes:
Klaus,
You opinion is wrong again.
The Second Amendment has everything to do with an Americans right to defend themselves against the threat of Socialism, and anything else that threatens on our Freedom, aka, The Right to Bear Arms.
As for this statement of yours, please read this and tell me how you think Obamacare is going to work:

KlausStoertebeker writes:
"As for this statement of yours, please read this and tell me how you think Obamacare is going to work!"
I can not do it. But your favorite, the November 2012 loser for the USA Presidency, did. Here is his statement:
Romney didn't offer a fix for Medicare, the government health care program for seniors that is approaching a financial crisis, but he praised the controversial plan devised by House Budget Chairman Paul Ryan. The Wisconsin Republican proposes transforming Medicare into, essentially, a voucher system that would offer subsidies to buy insurance.
"My plan … is not going to be identical to the Ryan plan, but it's going to share (his) objectives" of keeping both Medicare and the country "fiscally solvent," Romney said.
That is even better than great President Barack Obama's law.
I am sorry. But you defend a loser position. Your favorite is far ahead of you.
By the way! Who cares about the opinion about a couple of hundred doctors?
