Christian Duenas had been waiting a year to see Spider-Man.

But ask the Naples resident about the movie and he can't tell you a thing. He was more excited about the two celebrities sitting beside him at the Hollywood 20.

Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman and her husband, Grammy Award-winning country singer Keith Urban, were spotted walking around Naples over the Fourth of July holiday, giving a thrill to many who spotted them.

"It was unbelievable," said Duenas, whose wife alerted him to the stars sitting next to them through a text message.

Duenas and his wife talked about asking them for an autograph or maybe a photo, but decided to wait until after the movie.

"It was the longest hour of my life," he said.

But, Duenas said the couple left after the first half of the movie, both standing up at the same time and exiting the theater. Duenas said he went out a couple of minutes later to try and get an autograph, but they were gone. Still, he admits it was a nice story.

It's unclear how Kidman and Urban discovered Naples, but it might have something to do with Kidman's famous ex-husband, Tom Cruise. Cruise's mother, Mary Lee South, was a resident of Marco Island before moving away several years ago.

Or maybe the connection is Urban's. Country singers Alan Jackson and Shania Twain had homes in Collier County, although both have since sold them.

Sal Geraci, the manager at Sea Salt, said the couple did dine in the restaurant on Tuesday evening, confirming reports in US Weekly Magazine.

"They were very low-key, trying to stay as private as possible," he said. "They were very cordial, very friendly. They had a little dinner and left."

Geraci said he saw the couple walking Third Street South on the Fourth of July, perusing the stores before being recognized and leaving. He said he thought it was great that Naples had some star power come to town.

"I think Naples lends itself to a quiet little hideaway," he said.

But Third Street South wasn't the only district that attracted the Kidman and Urban, who have been married for six years and have two daughters. They were also spotted on Fifth Avenue South earlier in the week.

Phil McCabe, owner of the Inn on Fifth, said Kidman and Urban dined at Truluck's earlier in the week, were spotted walking around Fifth Avenue South and even stopped by McCabe's Irish Pub and Grill.

"They're definitely in town," he said.

Frank Conrad Russen, who is on the board of the Naples International Film Festival, said he spotted Kidman and Urban at Badass Coffee on Third Street South this week. He asked the couple to autograph two champagne flutes for an auction to raise money for the festival. Kidman signed the glass with a heart and Urban signed his glass and added a peace sign, Russen said.

"They told me it was a great cause and they would be happy to do it," he said. "She couldn't have been more gracious and kind. I didn't speak to them long.

"I know how precious coffee time is in the morning."
