Lightning likely was the cause of three small brush fires near Golden Gate Estates on Tuesday afternoon.
The first fire was reported around 4 p.m. on the 3200 block of 20th Avenue Southeast. The half-acre fire was contained by 4:30 p.m., said Victor Hill, a Florida Forest Service spokesman.
The second fire was reported on the 3000 block of 14th Avenue Southeast and was controlled as of 6 p.m., according to a Golden Gate battalion chief.
A third fire started near Wild Turkey Drive around 5 p.m. No details were immediately available from officials.
