The Collier County Clerk of Courts Office has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the 10th year the office has won the national honor.
The clerk's office is among dozens of winners in Florida, including Collier County and the cities of Naples and Fort Myers, according to officials with the Chicago-based nonprofit association.
Clerk of Courts Dwight Brock said the award reflects his staff's and his commitment to meet "the highest principles of governmental budgeting."
To win, candidates must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation designed to assess how well a budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device, making it easy for citizens and others to understand. Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in those categories and 14 other mandatory criteria.
The GFOA serves 17,400 government finance professionals throughout North America and offers the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.

Mr. Brock's opponent in the upcoming election says he will "turn-around" the Clerk's office.
We can believe him! With his job history of running Safelite into bankruptcy, the days of winning awards will end if he is elected.
Mr. Brock's opponent will rubber-stamp Jim Coletta's crony-based spending.
We need Mr. Brock to be re-elected!
