NAPLES — The LPGA Tour's return to Naples is just over four months away. Monday's opening of volunteer applications is an indication of just how close that is.
"We've had so many inquiries about this CME Titleholders event, people wanting information," tournament director Lesley Baker said. "I think we'll fill up pretty quickly."
Baker said the tournament is looking for roughly 600 to 650 volunteers, and that many of the same volunteer committee chairmen from the Champions Tour's ACE Group Classic — also managed by Octagon Golf — are on board for the Titleholders, which will be Nov. 15-18 at TwinEagles Club.
"It's very similar to ACE, but not exactly the same," Baker said of the volunteer structure.
Volunteer registration is $65 per person. Fifth Third Bank, which was a sponsor of the volunteers at The ACE Group Classic, also has signed on for the Titleholders, Baker said.
This will be the second Titleholders with the revamped format where LPGA Tour players can qualify throughout the season. The top three each week get into the elite field of 69 in the event that more or less replaced the Tour Championship. Last year's tournament was played at Grand Cypress Resort in Orlando. Hee Young Park was the champion.
Qualifiers so far (in threes, in order of qualification): Jessica Korda, Stacy Lewis, Brittany Lincicome; Yani Tseng, Jiyai Shin, Ai Miyazato; Angela Stanford, Na Yeon Choi, Shanshan Feng; So Yeon Ryu, Hee Young Park, Caroline Hedwall; Sun Young Yoo, Jodi Ewart, Se Ri Pak; I.K. Kim, Amy Yang, Hee Kyung Seo; Meena Lee, Azahara Munoz, Cristie Kerr; Lexi Thompson, Karine Icher, Karrie Webb; Vicky Hurst, Candie Kung, Morgan Pressel; Katherine Hull, Mika Miyazato, Hee-Won Han; Suzann Pettersen, Eun-Hee Ji, Gerina Piller; Brittany Lang, Chella Choi, Inbee Park; Veronica Felibert, Anna Nordqvist, Jenny Shin; Sandra Gal, Ilee Lee, Giulia Sergas.
"We should have the best of the best players," Baker said. "We're starting to get some great names in the field, and I know that'll continue to be strong."
There are a dozen events left on the schedule, with the Evian Masters next up from July 26-29 in France.
Baker indicated that tickets would go on sale sometime in August.
