Two recently arrested East Naples teens now face new charges of grand theft auto, accused by Naples police of stealing a 2012 Chrysler 200 and leaving it in a ditch.

Julio Cezar Prado, 19, of the 1300 block of Barbizon Lane, and David S. Kohler, 18, of the 3000 block of the Peters Avenue, were arrested by Naples police Tuesday at the Naples Jail Center.

Officers said Prado and Kohler stole the vehicle from the 300 block of Seventh Avenue South in Naples on April 25. Two days later, the car was found about five miles away in East Naples on the 4600 block of North Road, parked in a ditch with damage to the tires and side panels, an arrest report said.

Using fingerprints pulled from the vehicle’s door and rooftop, officers traced the stolen car to Prado, who was already in jail from a May arrest. Collier sheriff’s deputies said Prado and a Golden Gate Estates teen shot into an East Naples home in May, nearly hitting a man inside.

During an interview with police, Prado said Kohler also was in the vehicle.

Kohler, already in jail on a burglary charge, accused of stealing a bicycle from a garage, told police he and Prado stole the vehicle and drove around smoking marijuana, an arrest report said.
