NewsMakers: Allen Weiss, Part 1

What's next after Obamacare decision?

Dr. Allen Weiss

Lytle: Let’s talk about medical tourism. You are a promoter of this, and it would be people coming from other areas, coming here for their care.

Weiss: Right.

Lytle: But realistically, with so many other highly skilled specialty areas around the country, how is that really going to work?

Weiss: Let’s say we were hypothetically to do an affiliation with a major luminary organization that’s known worldwide, and we have their expertise here locally in Collier County, where we’ve got a climate that is great for recovery. We’ve got an infrastructure that is great for hospitality ... Let’s say we were to think out of the box a little differently than this county’s ever thought of for the last 150 years where we have this huge seasonal variation, and we filled in the bottom of the season, what do you think that would do for our economy?

Lytle: A luminary organization such as? Medical?

Weiss: Yes, medical. You can fill in the blank — stay tuned for the coming attraction.
