To Marco Island City Council: The Planning Board approved the use of horse drawn carriages to be used on the streets of Marco Island. Now it is up to the City Council to decide whether it should be a good thing for Marco.
As I recall, the city spent $30 million beautifying Collier Boulevard, and more money installing sewers. The sewers were installed because our septic tanks were leaking into our streets and canals.
A health problem was a definite concern. So now we are going to allow horses to urinate and defecate on our new and expensive Collier Boulevard? Why did we waste our time and money beautifying Collier, and putting in sewers?
There is something terribly wrong with this picture! Don't you think?

Al, our septic tanks were never leaking into our streets and canals, it was all BS.

Just by the remote controlled city councilor Tucker, Trotter, Roppoff, Waldi, Gibbon and Minozzi. And this teacher lady. That is the truth. Our septic tanks worked perfect.

We were taken when the council usurped powers to mandate us to pay out of our butts for something completely unneccesary. I am forever apalled by this decision and choose to move away from this idiocy. Street lamps are another classic example. We the people... Suppressed. The perfect island isn't perfect anymore. Voices ring out with intelligence.

Who could question the judgment of this group of decision makers,or their predecessors if they truly are? Unnecessary sewers, unnecessary huge water plant, unnecessary asbestos situation just to name a few. And, proposed unnecessary Mackle Park building expansion, unnecessary free beach parking, unnecessary density ideas, the list goes on and on. Now a Horse Drawn Carriage on Collier. If this council approves, do not vote them in again!

YES! We need a campaign against the 3 month majority of Marco Island - the condo dwellers snowbirds and state income tax holdouts.
The only way to change this is a high active quote of Marco Island permanent citizen on election day. And a serious candidate check to vote for straight independent people and no turn coats and puppets on the string anymore.

Marco Council is out of control and running rampant...spending Marco's people's money wildly while their ego's grow larger every day. They have wrecked this island and don't know it.

Hi Al,
The STRP was not a project to correct Leakage of the Sewers.
STRP had a lot of Agendas, but Septic Tank Leakage wasnt one.
The amount of Horse waste that will be created is near zero , people going to the the bathroom before the ride will create more waste than the horses.

Can anybody tell me why the sewage treatment plant smells sooo bad. Never noticed it until lately. That seems more of a health risk than septic tanks. Is it all the time? May have to move my boat to another marina.

Think of the poor people who live across the canal from it. Coming into the marina past the CCSO station really, really stinks.
Northerner writes:
I think about how bad it would be to live across the canal from it every time we pass it in our boat and yet a guzillion dollar home was just built on the east side of Rose Ct. Now I know why that little fixer has been on the market for almost 2 yrs.

If you approve of Horse and carriages on Marco, you will have to hire Pooper Scoopers, full Time jobs, plus, with the traffic on Marco, you will need trucks and forklifts to haul away dead horses. More jobs.
You people are nuts.
