The Collier County Clerk of Courts Office will begin accepting electronically filed documents on July 30.
The Florida Courts eFiling Authority recently approved the Collier's application to accept court documents filed electronically in criminal, civil traffic, probate, juvenile dependency and juvenile delinquency cases.
"EFiling will better serve all of our major customers, reduce the workload of our staff and reduce costs to taxpayers," Collier Clerk Dwight Brock said in a statement.
The new service will be phased in, starting with simple eFiling on existing cases. In the near future, new cases will be opened online and all related documents and records will be filed electronically. Electronic filing will allow attorneys to file documents with the courts from their computers 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The Florida Association of Court Clerks has setup a Florida courts eFiling portal where attorneys can establish their own accounts using their Florida Bar number. That website is www.myfloridacourtaccess.com.
