A Golden Gate woman is accused of stealing her friend’s ID card and using it to cash stolen checks.
Kelley Hill, 28, of the 2400 block of 42nd Terrace Southwest, was arrested Thursday by Collier deputies at home.
According to an arrest report, in Dec. 2011, deputies received a call from a worker at the check cashing store, located at the 9800 block of U.S. 41 North. She advised deputies of a female who presented her with a check but her ID did not match the name of the account belonging to the check.
After further investigation, deputies said they were able to obtain fingerprints from the check which identified Hill as the suspect. Her picture also matched up to the images of the female who was inside the check cashing store, according to reports.
The checkholders told deputies they did not know Hill, nor the person who’s ID she used to cash the checks and they wished to press charges.
Deputies said they spoke with the woman whose name was on the ID that Hill used, and she said that she knew Hill and that she was in jail during the time of the incident but did not give Hill permission to use her ID. She also told deputies she wished to press charges, according to reports.
Hill was then arrested on charges of uttering a forged check, fraudulent use of ID or another and grand theft.
