When Donna Fiala and Steve Cosgrove squared off at the South Regional Library on June 13 a good example of who answered the questions squarely was evidenced by one particular question, and that question dealt with how many times the candidates visited Marco Island. Cosgrove never did answer the question while Donna provided plenty of evidence about her visits to not only Marco Island, but the entire district. Had I taken the opportunity to ask a question to Cosgrove, at that time, it would have been:
"Over the past four or more years, Hideaway Beach has been losing a very serious amount of sand threatening two large condo buildings; this despite the ramblings of Mr. Henning who now complains that two years is too long to wait to protect Naples’ beaches. If those buildings were to be condemned due to water, or structural damage from the Gulf Waters, the revenue lost to Marco Island and Collier County would be significant, yet you never bothered to investigate the situation one time. Why not?
Donna has visited the site at least six times this year alone, and probably more. She is completely aware of a situation you obviously aren’t interested in. Voters of District 1 there is no doubt Cosgrove will not represent District 1, but would side with the Naples and North Naples commissioners. Don’ be complacent and sit home on election day. Get out and vote and vote for the one candidate that has District 1, as well as all of Collier County at heart, and that is Commissioner Donna Fiala. Show her how much you support such a wonderful lady and representative to our district. Let the final vote count reflect the fact District 1 does not need, nor want, carpetbagger representation.
