'Daily NewsMakers with Jeff Lytle' ... Kristen Coury, founder of the professional Gulfshore Playhouse

Think big. This week’s Naples Daily NewsMakers with Jeff Lytle guests do just that.

They are: Greg Poss, head coach of the champion Florida Everblades; Kristen Coury, founder of the professional

Gulfshore Playhouse, which wants to expand the theater at Naples’ Norris Center; and Casey Weston, former finalist on "The Voice.’’

The program airs Sunday morning at 10 on ABC7.

NewsMakers: Kristen Coury

Lytle: Are there any other venues being considered? For example, Florida Gulf Coast University once planned a theater at the corner of Goodlette-Frank Road and U.S. 41 East. Is that in play? Can you collaborate with any other project, or even in East Naples on Bayshore?

Coury: That is ... we have reached out to FGCU, and a discussion is also happening. So we are exploring options, like I’m saying. And even Councilman Doug Finlay, when we went to him to ask for his support for having a conversation with the city, suggested the idea of possibly closing down Park Street and creating another plaza off Fifth Avenue. This is obviously an attractive idea as well — attractive to me as a city resident, and also a member of the marketing committee for the Business Improvement District for Fifth Avenue.

If we get more feet closer to Fifth Avenue, we become even more of an economic driver than we already are.
