I just finished reading the article regarding swale parking. I am concerned with several issues.
The Island community did not buy Veterans Park to provide beach parking or for any other specific business parking. Marco Island was designed to be a residential community. We do not need to attract more people to the Island for business or to use the beaches.
I had conversation with a few councilmen and wannabes prior to the last election and told them that the proposed beach access next to the Marriott would cause nearby parking issues and was told that wouldn’t be a problem since the access was for walking neighbors and that the Police Department would take care of any problems and we all know how that turned out.
There aren’t any sanitary facilities at the Marriott access point and beachgoers either use the water or trespass on private property .
It appears with minature golf on its way, we are on our way to becoming another Fort Myers Beach.

If Marco beach access is opened up & made easily accessable within five year's from now traffic will be backed up to beyond the bridge
Population is growing like crazy along 41 /951
Hopefully this can be averted Marco is too small to absorb half of collier cty.
Sound's selfish on my part but we located on Marco for the ambience & were & still are willing to pay the price for it
Nothing is forever but some control is needed to maintain this as a residential community and protect property right's

Way to go BenJaron.

It is far from being selfish...it is about preservation of a precious asset...peace and tranquility...

no one wanted a toll on bridge. That would have deferred a lot of visitors and cruisers.
marco residents don't want visitors but the business community thinks the opposite. It is "their" island too.

As a seasonal resident in the south beach area, I cannot express enough, how appalled we were this past winter at the number of vehicles parked on our parkways and lawns. Not only did it affect the ambience of the area, but also our quality of life! If we wanted to live in Ft Lauderdale, We would have purchased a condo there! Marco Island is not large enough to support this kind of activity. The landscaping will soon be destroyed and littering unbearable! Maybe the Tigertail area should be promoted as a visitor destination, as at least this is a State Park and has a parking lot and bathroom facilities. I am really afraid that if this problem continues that it will drive away those of us who are so eager to preserve this little bit of paradise.
