'Game Show Week' theme for Marco Y Summer Day Camp

Wow, what a wonderful first week of Summer Day Camp.

The campers enjoyed "Spirit Week," taking part in arts and craft activities that reflected the theme. The campers also enjoyed a fun day of bowling at Woodside Lanes in Naples and all campers are looking forward to a Multi-Camp party from 1 to 4 p.m. today.

Gymnastics Camp, with Coach Tracy Decker, concludes with Gymnastics Fun Night at the Y today from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Fun Night is for all children ages 6-14. Charge is $5 for Marco Y Members and $6 for nonmembers. Parents need to preregister their child before the event, so stop by the Customer Service desk today.

Register now for weeks 2-10 of Summer Day Camp, which includes free breakfast and lunch.

The Week 2 Theme is "Game Show Week." During the week a field trip takes campers to Sun N Fun Lagoon on Wednesday.

Also, register today for Summer Education and Recreation Camp at Marco Island Charter Middle School. The program, for Charter School and Manatee Middle School students, combines literacy and math classes with some recreational activities at the Charter School. This program goes from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with free lunch included for only $15 per week, paid in advance each week of camp.

Manatee students can be transported each day to and from Manatee Middle School.

Signups also continue for Specialty Summer Camps that begin on Monday. They are:

Tim Cain Baseball Camp — June 18-22 and July 16-20. For ages 7-16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Cost is $100 for Y members and $125 for nonmembers. A minimum of 10 participants is necessary.

Seibukan Karate Camp- June 18-22 and July 16-20. Ages 6 and up from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $75 for members and $90 nonmembers, with a minimum of 8 persons.

Cross Country Camp- June 18-22, grades 6-9. Grades 8 and 9 are from 7 to 8:45 a.m.; grades 6 and 7, from 9 to 9:45 a.m.; $90 for member and $110 for nonmember, with a 10 person minimum.

Girls Volleyball Camp- June 18-22; Girls ages 7 to 15. Beginners class, 9 to 11 a.m.; Advanced- noon to 2 p.m.; $90 for member, $110 nonmember, with a 12-person minimum.
