— A North Naples man is accused of overstaying his welcome, entering his neighbor's home, stealing his beer, and then choking him.

Jack Murphy, 40, of the 600 block of 102nd Avenue North, was arrested Thursday by Collier deputies at home.

According to an arrest report, Murphy was drinking beer with his neighbor at his home, who he had known for a long time. However, when Murphy became intoxicated and verbally abusive, he was asked to go home.

Murphy's neighbor told deputies that a few hours later, Murphy returned and was told to leave. Instead, according to the arrest report, Murphy walked in, went to the refrigerator and put four cans of beer in his pockets. Murphy's neighbor told him to put the beers back but he refused. His neighbor told him to keep the beer but to never come back over.

Murphy turned around and threw a full can of beer at his neighbor, striking him on the left side of his head, and then charged at him and began choking him, according to the report.

Murphy is facing a charge of burglary with battery.
