The nitty-gritty of basketball was what 20 participants learned in the Roger Raymond Basketball Camp at the Marco Island Charter Middle School this week.

Fundamentals were stressed, shot selection, position and real-game situations were played out.

Most of the participants were from the Marco Island Charter Middle School and Marco Island Academy Charter High School.

Allan Pernas, Charter School boys JV basketball coach, assisted Raymond.

A lone girl, Vanessa Torres, who will be an eighth grader, showed she wasn't shy in mixing it up with the boys. She will be a stalwart on the girls Charter School team next season.
