An East Naples man is accused of attacking his girlfriend after she refused to get the TV remote for him.

Jorge Gonzalez, 38, of the 30 block of Apple Tree Lane, was arrested Saturday by Collier deputies at the 2900 block of Sixth Avenue South.

According to an arrest report, deputies met with Gonzalez’s girlfriend, who told them that Gonzalez, who was lying in bed, asked her to get him the television remote. She told him should couldn’t because she was in the bathroom, which caused him to become angry, according to reports.

As she was leaving the bathroom, Gonzalez threw her to the bed and began to strike her on the upper shoulder and face area, deputies said.

Gonzalez then choked her and continued to punch her on the face and scratch her, according to reports.

The victim told deputies that Gonzalez eventually calmed down and fell asleep.

Gonzalez faces a charge of domestic battery with strangulation.
