Police: Burglar broke in house using doggie door

A burglar wiggled through a doggie door last weekend, stealing two televisions and a video game system worth $1,400, Naples police said.

A homeowner on the 1000 block of 29th Avenue North told police an unknown assailant broke into her home sometime between Friday morning and Monday afternoon, using a pet access on a door near the garage. The burglar took a 50-inch television, a 43-inch television and a video game system, police said. Several cabinet doors also were opened and items had been taken out, an incident report said.

The victim told police that she checked all locks on the home and never uses the pet access door, which was locked. Officers discovered that the doggie door has been broken into and identified it as the access point, the report said.

Crime scene investigators found a footprint in sand near the home. The investigation is ongoing.
