Q: It has come to my attention in the Neapolitan Way shopping center that Larry’s Lunch Box Delicatessen is coming to North Naples. Is this true? Are they opening up a second location?

— Nancy, Naples

A: It’s not exactly North Naples, but Larry’s Lunch Box Delicatessen plans to open its second location in the next few months.

After operating for nearly 25 years on Airport-Pulling Road in East Naples, the local kosher-style deli is branching out with the help of a second generation.

The lease was signed last week for the new location in Neapolitan Way off U.S. 41 in Naples. Co-owners Kimberly and Sean Redding hope to open in August or September in the former spot of Cibao Grille, 870 Neapolitan Way.

After doing business at that location for six years, Cibao Grille relocated in May to the former space of Parkshore Grill within the same shopping center.

When the Reddings’ parents, Larry and Marci, opened the first Larry’s Lunch Box in late 1987, Sean was 2 and Kimberly was 6 months old, Marci Redding said. Now, at ages 27 and 24, the offspring will star in the sequel, while Mom and Dad will continue to run the original.

“We are excited. It’s still going to be the family affair,” Kimberly Redding said.

Expect the second location to have the same menu as the first. The mom-and-pop deli features specialty sandwiches and other traditional deli items named after family, friends and relatives.

And don’t expect the second location to be the last. The Reddings are already scouting out a third in North Naples and are even talking about a possible fourth.

TooJay’s in Naples?

Q: I have been writing to a deli called TooJay’s for years asking them to come to Naples. They respond about looking into this every time I write to them. They are all over the state of Florida. I will go as far as Sarasota to eat there, and any time I am over on the other coast of Florida, we eat there. Can you please look into this great restaurant?

— Mary, Naples

A: If the economy had not soured, a TooJay’s Gourmet Deli most likely would have opened in the Naples area.

“We actually were seeking out sites in Naples at one time,” said Annie Catz, a spokeswoman for TooJay’s. “Things changed, so we pulled back on our expansion plans.”

The growing chain, known for its New York-style delicatessen specialties, is based in West Palm Beach and has 24 locations in Florida. The Sarasota location is the only TooJay’s in Southwest Florida.

Talk about a Naples location frequently comes up, Catz said, but TooJay’s doesn’t have specific plans to open here.

“It’s not impossible, but it’s not on the map. I don’t know if and when we’d be there,” she said.

TooJay’s Management Corp. owns and operates all TooJay’s locations. The company does not offer franchise or joint venture opportunities.

If you really can’t wait for TooJay’s, then have the deli ship its food to you. TooJay’s mail order program, toojays.com/mail-order, features classic deli packages that can be delivered anywhere in the continental U.S.

Of course, the new menu’s centerpiece is Chicago’s famous deep-dish pizza, as well as thin-crust pizza cut into squares, the Chicago way. 239-403-0037

The Frozen Yogurt Cloud is expected to open in late August or early September near Moe’s Southwest Grill in the Granada Shoppes at Immokalee Road and U.S. 41 in North Naples. The location of the self-serve frozen yogurt shop originally was a Maggie Moo’s Ice Cream franchise years ago. Owner Wendy Scippa said the first location for the independent store will offer booths and good acoustics for private chats in a relaxed setting.

“We are looking forward to creating a unique atmosphere that is conducive to conversation,” Scippa said.

The frozen yogurt shop, which has seating indoors and outdoors, offers a dessert option for the eateries on either side: Truly Organic Pizza and Moe’s Southwest Grill.

The venue eventually plans to provide live music at least one night a week, as well as offer soft baked pretzels and other baked goods, Scippa said.
