Domestic Animal Services hosting open house for prospective volunteers

Collier County Domestic Animal Services will host a volunteer open house from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the shelter, 7610 Davis Blvd.

The open house is an opportunity for existing and prospective volunteers to understand better the DAS core values and services. Participants will learn what each department does and how the shelter operates on a daily basis.

From walking dogs and keeping kittens company, to community education and off-site adoption events, volunteers serve many roles at the shelter. There is no minimum number of volunteer hours required, and any animal lover over age 15 may become a volunteer.

Members of two of DAS’s newer volunteer groups — the Pit Bull Crew and Clicker Training with adoptable dogs — will be on hand to promote their programs.
