Last Wednesday ArtWalk: Mangrove paintings and the People’s Choice award featured

Bringing art to the masses, or at least giving the masses of people who showed up for the “Last Wednesday” ArtWalk a voice, the Artists’ Colony at the Esplanade allowed gallery-goers to vote for their favorite work in the People’s Choice contest.

“We’re competing for the coveted “Yellow Ribbon,” said artist Tara O’Neill in the Portside Gallery. With fresh works of art and free wine and appetizers, the event drew a steady stream of gazers, sippers and potential buyers. The group did another of their collaborative efforts, with a dozen painters each contributing a bite-sized work,

The Artist Colony at the Esplanade is a partnership between the Esplanade owners and management, and over a dozen working artists, a joint venture of the Marco Island Center for the Arts and the Foundation for the Arts. Hours are Wednesday through Friday, 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., with Art Walks held the last Wednesday of each month from 5 to 8 p.m. For more information, visit the Artist Colony website at http://marcoislandartistcolony.com.
