College basketball: FGCU women lose 72-65 in overtime

— The Florida Gulf Coast University women's basketball team lost 72-65 in its first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.

FGCU scored a layup with 3.2 seconds left to tie the game in the second half Sunday but St. Bonaventure outlasted them in overtime. The Bonnies head to the second round for a 7 p.m. Tuesday game against Marist, which upset fourth-seeded Georgia.

The 12th-seeded Eagles overcame a halftime deficit against the fifth-seeded St. Bonaventure and at one point led by double digits before losing.
