Teen charged with fleeing the scene after damaging school pole

The Marco Island Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in solving a recent hit-and-run crash which occurred Sunday, March 11, at Tommie Barfield Elementary School on Marco Island. Surveillance photos show a Chevy Camaro driven by a male damaging an aluminum support pole and walkway canopy at the school.

The Marco Island Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in solving a recent hit-and-run crash which occurred Sunday, March 11, at Tommie Barfield Elementary School on Marco Island. Surveillance photos show a Chevy Camaro driven by a male damaging an aluminum support pole and walkway canopy at the school.

— A 17-year-old Naples male has been arrested after Marco Island police said he backed into a pole at Tommie Barfield Elementary School and left the scene.

The teen turned himself in Saturday and was charged with failing to report property damage and careless driving. He was released to his parents.

Surveillance photos captured a Chevy Camaro backing into an aluminum pole and canopy at the elementary school on March 11. Police said the arrested teen was driving his father's 1998 Chevy Camaro at the time of the crash.
