Wine festival founders will present checks to Collier County nonprofits Monday

Naples Winter Wine Festival founders Monday will award millions in grants that will benefit Collier County children.

The event, which is not open to the public, will be held starting at 4 p.m. at the Old Collier Golf Club, 790 Main House Drive, North Naples. Festival trustees will present grant checks to 24 nonprofit organizations in Collier County that serve needy children.

Additionally, trustees will present checks that will fund three long-term strategic initiatives, including fund-a-need, which will bring improved vision to thousands of children.

The Naples Children and Education Foundation, sponsors of the wine festival, has raised $107 million over the last 12 years under the auction tent. That money has benefited 150,000 underprivileged and at-risk children in Collier County.

This year, the wine festival raised $12.2 million.

The foundation's long-term projects are meant to fill gaps in five areas: early learning, medical/oral health, out-of-school programs, behavioral health and childhood hunger.
