This crab’s the tasty kind YMCA offers blue crab dinner fundraiser

The Greater Marco Family YMCA Karate Dojo is holding an all you can eat blue crab dinner on Saturday at the Dottie Weiner Pool Pavilion.

Sensei Nick Lemke says the blue crabs will be “fresh off the boat,” served with southern style sides, dessert, tea and a demonstration how to catch and clean blue crabs. The event is 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cost is $50 for adults and children under 13 will pay $25. Tickets are available at the Y Customer Service desk. The event purpose is to raise funds to help offset charter costs for the YMCA Dojo and funding for participants to attend tournaments

and seminars.

On Sunday is the 2nd Annual Tour De Marco, a 15 or 30-mile bike tour of Marco Island and Goodland. The event preregistration begins at 7 a.m. The 30-mile riders leave the YMCA at 8 a.m. and 15-mile riders leave at 9 a.m. To preregister go to www.active.com. Cost is $20. Registration the day of the event is $25.

Participants in the event will receive a goodie bag and are encouraged to stay after the event to win some great prizes. Thanks to Jim and Noreen Seegers and Scott Shook for working with the YMCA to ensure this event’s success. All proceeds will benefit the Marco YMCA.
