NAPLES — Tiburon Golf Club at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort has been ranked No. 23 in the state in Golfweek magazine's seventh annual Best Courses You Can Play ratings.
A team of 725 evaluators rated each public layout on the basis of 10 criteria, including routing, conditioning, variety and memorability of holes.
TPC Sawgrass' Players Stadium Course was ranked No. 1 in the state, followed by the Pine Barrens Course at World Woods in Brooksville, the Copperhead Coruse at Innisbrook in Tarpon Springs, Sugarloaf Mountain in Minneola, and the Champion Course at PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens.
Jimbo Fisher tournament: Florida State football coach Jimbo Fisher and play-by-play announcer Gene Deckerhoff will appear for Fisher's second annual golf tournament on Friday, May 11 at Naples Grande Golf Club.
Registration is at 10:30 a.m., followed by a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. and a 1 p.m. shotgun start. The entry fee is $150 per golfer, or $35 to only attend the luncheon. Sponsorships are available from $150 to $5,000.

Naples Area Men's Interclub: Imperial and Stonebridge will play for the title Wednesday at Audubon Country Club.
On Friday at Quail Creek, Imperial defeated Wyndemere played in a semifinal that ended in a tie, with the tie being broken on the first hole of sudden death between the two lowest-handicap players from each team. Stonebridge qualified by beating Spanish Wells last Wednesday at the Country Club of Naples.
Wednesday's winner gains possession of the Old Mug, inscribed with the names of winning clubs since the inception of the Men's Interclub in 1973.
Winning pairs: Two couples recently won both of their respective club championships. At Kensington, Steve and Fran Scoville repeated as men's and ladies champions. That's the second time they've done so; the other was in 2007. Steve Scoville won the men's title in 2006 and 2008, and Fran Scoville was defending champion this year. They celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary Sunday.
At Quail Creek, Mark Adamczyk and his wife Pam — who each played collegiately at Tulane — won their respective club championships. Mark Adamczyk worked in the cart barn at Quail Creek growing up, and now is a local attorney.
Celtic Cup: Olde Cypress members Skip and Ginny Deneka won the regional qualifiers of Celtic Couples Challenge in Orlando. last month. The Denekas won an all-expenses-paid trip to the Ring of Kerry in Ireland in September.
SFPGA Senior-Junior: Gene Fieger and Justin Bertsch of Hideout lost in a playoff on April 25 at The Links at Boynton Beach. Kevin Compare and Richard Terga won when Compare chipped in for birdie on the second hole. Both teams had 62s.
