MARCO ISLAND — Once again, Marco Islanders delivered countless cartons and bags of old documents to be shredded and recycled, as Iberia Bank held another of their “shred parties” on Saturday at the bank branch on the corner of Bald Eagle Drive and Elkcam Circle. A party atmosphere prevailed in the bank’s parking lot, to the sound of the low roar of the truck-mounted shredder, as a steady stream of cars dropped off “shred.”
Iberia Bank VP/Branch Manager Keith Dameron, wearing an American flag shirt, was assisted by a group of volunteers including his wife Barbara and bank employees including market manager Yvette Saco, his boss.
A donation of two dollars per box was collected, with all proceeds donated to the Big Flag Committee, in preparation for the unveiling of a 12x18-foot flag on a 50-foot flagpole at the foot of the Jolley Bridge.
“The ceremony will be Memorial Day, and we might have a big surprise,” said Dameron.
