In week two of co-ed softball, on another beautiful night at the ball field, as the smell of fresh hot dogs carried over to the dugouts, Kretch’s Restaurant notched its second straight win, this time against the Snook Inn, 21-6.
Led by AJ Parker, four hits and Joe Pitrone, two hits, and each with home runs, Kretch’s bats were too much for the Snook Inn.
For the ladies, Alex Stagpole had two hits, along with Naomi Smith, Julie Mans, Grethall Ortiz and Lucy Crabtree all adding singles.
The Snook, behind going into the fifth inning, 12-1, mounted a rally behind Teresa Gangl, four hits and Melinda Long and Lindsey Bott, with two hits each, to close the gap, but couldn’t come all the way back. Ray Underfer and Pete O’Neill each had two hits for the Snook.
In the second game Rookies Bar & Grill posted its second straight win, defeating Stan’s Buzzard Crew, 21-4.
Marc Canady led Rookies with four hits, while Leo Rill and Bruce Bell each added three hits and Sean Shea two hits, including a home run. For the ladies Roe Tamagani stayed hot at the plate with three hits, along with Missy Canady adding three of her own.
Stan’s was led by Meagan Waterman’s two hits, while Tracy Decker, Greg St Amour and Brad Frazier all contributed with hits.
The wins set up the first meeting between the two undefeated teams, Rookies and Kretch’s, at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday. It also gives Stan’s and Snook Inn a chance for their first win at 6:45 p.m. Games are at Winterberry Park.
Thanks to BeachDogs for coming out and providing their delicious hot dogs for purchase. They will be out every week so come out hungry to the ball park.
