NewsMakers: Tim Fisher
He weighs in on "stand your ground."
Lytle: Tell me about some crime-fighting strategies where you can do better and get better results and be more efficient. You don’t have unlimited money anymore.
Fisher: Sheriff (Mike) Scott’s command staff is approximately 38 percent. That being the case, the national average is 17 percent. If I can take that amount of people and slide that ... and flip-flop and change the leadership and put those deputies out on the street, then we’re probably going to be a little more efficient in our presence.
After all, when someone dials 911, they’re not worried about how many people are in the sheriff’s command staff. They’re worried about the deputy who’s going to answer the phone.
