A 25-year-old Immokalee man was accused Sunday of fighting a Collier County sheriff's deputy who came to his house to investigate a report of battery.

The deputy arrived that afternoon at a home on the 1100 block of Bush Street, where a man said his brother, Angelo Garcia, had been fighting with his girlfriend. When Garcia's brother and a friend tried to intervene, Garcia hit his brother, his brother's friend and his girlfriend, according to an arrest report.

After family members called the Sheriff's Office, a deputy found Garcia in his bed with the covers over his head and asked him to get up. Garcia then swung his fist at the deputy telling him to "get the (expletive) out of my room," according to the report.

After the deputy called for backup, the deputy and Garcia began to fight, pushing and throwing punches at each other, the report said. The deputy used a stun gun to subdue Garcia, but reports said he was undeterred and grabbed the deputy, taking his flashlight and a gun magazine from its pouch.

Other deputies arrived soon after and were able to handcuff Garcia, who they said continued to resist arrest. Garcia remained jailed Monday, facing charges of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting an officer with violence, simple battery and two counts of domestic violence battery.
