With reference to Wisconsinite Mary Robinson’s diatribe against the residents of Marco Island and their alleged unfriendly attitude toward visitors as published in your April 30 edition, let me suggest that this lady obviously is the one with a negative “snooty” – as she claims – attitude.
We’re criticized for not providing “bathrooms,” “parking,” “garbage collection” and “fishing walkways” on our bridges for her and her beloved resort-owning husband to fish off?
Give me a break!
And my neighbors and I are unfriendly and won’t respond to her greetings? Untrue!
Anyone who has ever spent any amount of time on Marco, as we have, knows our residents and this Island are one of the friendliest, most welcoming places on planet earth – Robinson’s claims notwithstanding.
Beyond that, as a Florida resident who also owns property in Wisconsin, I hope your readers understand that her views are an embarrassment and unrepresentative of those us who come from that state.
As to Mary, I plan to steer clear of her resort in Ontario, and I trust she’ll keep her word and stay off our beloved Island.
