Rookies, Kretch’s survive, winning close games

After four weeks it seems the teams are starting to come together with all games being very close and lots of fun.

In the first game undefeated Rookies got all it could handle from the Snook Inn, winless but coming on strong,. After being ahead the entire game, The Snook mounted a seventh inning rally, with hits from Lindsey Bott, Greg Curry, Anthony Palermo, Kristin Rotkvich and a home run from Damon Jobin and suddenly the game was tied 9-9.

But Rookies Sean Shea answered the call. With a hit to deep left field, and a throwing error on the relay, Shea touched all bases for the winning run.

Marc Canady and son Casey each had doubles for Rookies, along with hits from Chris Bronson, Daphine and Ken Moss, Roe Tamagani and Trina Canady.

Game two was also close, with Stan’s picking up where it left off the previous week. Jumping out to a lead on Kretch’s, Stan’s bats stayed hot as Greg St Amour had three hits (two triples and single) Brad Frazier’s three hits (double and two singles) and Lee Vanderjagt a double.

Down 7-5 in the fifth, Kretch’s played “small ball.” Joe Pitrone smacked a double and two hits each from Julie Mana, Naomi Smith, Dan Termini, Wes Smith and Jon Wright, Kretch’s scored five runs to go ahead 10-7 and was able to hold on for the 12-9 victory.

Games on Thursday night at Winterberry Field include, Kretch’s against Stan’s Buzzard Crew at 6:30 and Rookies against Snook Inn at 7:45.

Hot dogs and refreshments are available for purchase from Beach Dogs of Marco. Come out to the ball field for a fun night.
