Florida man gets 22-plus years in fatal road rage crash

BARTOW — A judge ordered a 48-year-old man to serve 22 ½ years in prison for a road rage crash that killed a 30-year-old woman.

Richard Waters apologized Monday for causing the crash, which he says was an accident. Prosecutors had asked Circuit Judge Beth Harlan to sentence Waters to 30 years.

The Ledger of Lakeland reports jurors found Waters guilty in February of vehicular homicide, leaving the scene of a fatal crash and reckless driving.

Authorities say Waters was angry in May 2010 because Joshua Moore pulled in front of him. Waters then swerved into Moore's lane, forcing him into oncoming traffic. Moore crashed head-on into Amy Krupp, who died. Waters kept driving, but another motorist followed him, took down his license plate number and reported him to police.
