A North Naples man faces a weapons charge after authorities said he brought a loaded handgun to the Lee County Courthouse, according to NBC-2.

Brenton Lee Mongan, 52, of the 800 block of 111th Avenue North, was arrested by Lee County sheriff's deputies Wednesday morning on a charge of carrying a concealed firearm.

Mongan told deputies he forgot the weapon was in his briefcase when he walked through a security line, NBC-2 reported. The handgun had one bullet in the chamber and seven in the magazine, the station said.

Mongan was released on $15,000 bond.
