NAPLES — Josh Pisarri of Naples and Austin Schultz of Bonita Springs of The First Tee of Naples/Collier have been selected as participants in the 2012 Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach on the Champions Tour.
There were 80 players representing 50 First Tee chapters picked to play in the tournament, which will be July 6-8 and televised by the Golf Channel.
Golfers were selected by a national panel of judges that evaluated participants' playing ability and comprehension of the life skills and character education learned through their involvement with The First Tee. More than 180 applications were submitted.
The juniors will be teamed with 81 Champions Tour players and 162 amateurs as they compete for the title at Pebble Beach Golf Links and Del Monte Golf Course.
During the 2012 ACE Group Classic, Schultz and Pisarri both took part in the First Tee Charity Challenge. Schultz, who played for South Fort Myers High School, will be playing college golf at Florida Southern, and Pisarri, who played for Barron Collier, will play at Coastal Carolina. Both are currently in the ACE Level of The First Tee's Life Skills program.
Special Olympics looking for coaches: Special Olympics Collier County is seeking assistant coaches for the 2012 season, from June 5 to Aug. 4. Practices are every Tuesday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at Golden Gate Country Club.
