Detectives are searching for a suspect who broke into a South Fort Myers Organizing For America office and stole an undisclosed amount of money.
Lee County sheriff's officials said the suspect broke through a glass door at the local office for President Barack Obama's campaign at 8750 Gladiolus Drive sometime before 7:15 a.m. Sunday. A manila envelope with an undisclosed amount of cash was taken from the office, officials said. Nothing else in the office had been tampered with, and no politically motivated messages were left behind.
Investigators are searching for a person of interest captured on tape near the office at about 5 a.m. Sunday. He is described as a young white male with dark hair, wearing shorts and sandals, and carrying a backpack.
Anyone with information about the burglary is asked to call the Lee County Sheriff's Office at 239-477-1000, or to remain anonymous and be eligible for a cash reward, call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-8477.
