Contractors pulled 42 permits to build single-family houses collectively valued at more than $11.5 million in unincorporated Lee County in October.
That compares to 55 permits issued in September and 34 issued in October 2011, according to the Lee County Department of Community Development. Twelve multifamily units were permitted in October, compared to 18 in September and 4 in October 2011.
General commercial activity was valued at nearly $1.3 million, compared to $507,375 in September and nearly $1.8 million in October 2011.
Lee County Community Development, which issued 2,943 permits of all kinds last month, oversees planning, zoning, development and building services, environmental review, building inspection, and code enforcement for the unincorporated areas of Lee County.

Tribute for Raymond Lutgert is Wednesday
A tribute to the legacy of Raymond L. Lutgert, founder of the Lutgert Cos., is 4 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The Park Shore Association will dedicate the Park Shore Beach Park in his name. Lutgert died in 2010 at age 90.
Moran Edwards holds seminars this week
Moran Edwards Asset Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors will conduct a series of seminars discussing "Estate Planning in Uncertain Times."
The seminars will be hosted at the Moran Edwards Office located in the Wells Fargo Building at 5801 Pelican Bay Blvd., Suite 200, in Naples. They are from 2 to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
The seminar series will include information about possible changes in the federal tax system affecting estate plans, the benefits of Florida domicile, and investment planning opportunities for 2013.

Solomon to receive award Nov. 15
Gene Solomon, a certified public accountant, will receive the 2012 John W. Sheppard Award at the Southwest Florida Community Foundation's annual meeting and reception Nov. 15 at Harborside Event Center in Fort Myers.
The award is given annually to an outstanding individual who has given selfless dedication to humanity and made significant contributions to the foundation. The event will begin with the annual meeting from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., followed by a cocktail reception.
