Lee County school board candidates Jeanne Dozier and Bob Chilmonik are in a tight battle for the District 2 seat with early voting results in.
Dozier won 52.01 percent of the early vote, while Chilmonik won 47.99 percent.
The race between incumbent Dozier and former board member Chilmonik was heated, with the two candidates often bantering back and forth along the campaign trail. Neither candidate won the majority of votes in the primary election, so they had to continue to the general election.
Dozier and Chilmonik often disagreed while serving together on the Lee County School board from 2000 to 2010, when Chilmonik left in an unsuccessful bid for a seat on the Lee County Commission.
